Christian Help -- Responding to need

Food Pantry
Emergency food is available on days we are open: Mondays, Tuesdays & Thursdays. We serve Mingo County and neighboring areas.
Clothing Store
Free to low-income persons and families. Donations accepted. “Take what you need; give what you can.” Burnouts & newcomers welcome.
Furniture & Household Needs
We take in and give out beds, tables and chairs, couches, baby beds, high chairs, car seats, etc. And we handle towels, sheets, pillows, blankets, dishes, pots and pans, curtains and more for burnout victims, flood victims, newcomers, and others in need. We keep a waiting list.
Transit Service
We offer a free demand-response transit service to take people to doctors, the DHHR, the pharmacy, the Social Security office, WIC, the store, the post office, wherever they need to go. We have a dispatcher, two drivers, and two vans. We transport within Mingo County—and sometimes to Logan or Ft. Gay. There is no public transportation in Mingo County.
Other Services
Many needs can’t be met by items people give us... medicines, rent, plywood, car parts, diapers, gasoline, etc. Many don’t have money to pay rent and utilities; some have no income at all. The problem may be sickness, loss of job, or abandonment by a partner. We try to help. We try to help with dental care, dentures, and eyeglasses, things not covered by Medicaid, things our folks can’t afford. West Virginia is No. 1 or 2 in the US in "toothlessness.” We are trying to change that, one mouth at a time. It’s a basic health need.
